According to Nielsen fast affiliate data, “The Mayor” averaged a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.1 million total viewers at 9:30 p.m. That is good enough to handily beat Fox’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in both measures in the time slot. Nevertheless, “The Mayor” was the least-watched and lowest-rated ABC comedy of the night.

At 10 p.m., “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” drew a 1.0 and 4.2 million viewers. That was good enough to tie for second place in its time slot in the key demo, but the new show finished third at 10 p.m. in total viewers behind NBC’s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”

Earlier on ABC, the ninth and final season premiere of “The Middle” drew a 1.6 and 6.1 million viewers, down approximately 10 percent in both measures from the Season 8 debut. At 8:30 p.m., the Season 4 debut of “Fresh Off the Boat” averaged a 1.3 and 4.5 million viewers, down just under 20 percent in the demo and just over 10 percent in total viewers compared to Season 3’s opener. The Season 4 premiere of “Black-ish” drew a 1.5 and 4.7 million viewers, down over 20 percent in both measures from the Season 3 premiere.
