Alleged $25b President Buhari speaks on issue concerning Kachikwu, Baru

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for sanity in the embarrassing public debacle between minister of state for petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and Maikanti Baru, the group managing director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.
Vanguard reports that the president specifically ordered that pubic bickering must stop. The minister had met with the president at the Aso Rock Villa on Friday, October 6 and a source privy to the meeting Buhari spoke about compelling needs “to tackle issues such as attacks on oil and gas facilities, funding of new projects and rehabilitation of refineries as well as implementation of Nigeria’s new petroleum policy in order to guarantee long term survival of the nation’s oil and gas industry.

Vanguard reported that in the policy, there was articulation for “a vision for the petroleum industry and sets policy goals, strategies and an implementation plan for the introduction of an appropriate institutional, legal, regulatory and commercial framework to resolve the barriers currently affecting investment in the sector.
