Certificate Fraud: According to Keyamo, I Sued the Lagos Assembly, Not Tinubu

Festus Keyamo, a spokesman for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council for the 2023 elections, denied having filed a lawsuit against Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State, for allegedly forging certificates.

“I never filed a lawsuit against Tinubu. No. In a statement released to Channels Television on Tuesday, Keyamo stated, “I sued the House of Assembly requesting an interpretation of the law.

The Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organization Spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, had made a statement insisting that Keyamo had sued Tinubu during his first tenure as governor of Lagos. The Minister of State for Labor and Employment was responding to that assertion.

Bwala referenced a court decision in his remarks on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, Keyamo V. House Of Assembly, Lagos State (2002)18 NWLR (Pt. 799)605.

But according to Keyamo, “Once the Supreme Court rules on a matter, it becomes binding on everyone—even the losing attorney—and he is compelled to obey and support the court’s decision. Therefore, assuming (which is not conceded) that I made any sort of accusation in the matter, once the Supreme Court made its decision, that was the end of the matter, and going forward, it is incumbent upon me to refrain from pursuing a matter that has already been resolved by the nation’s highest court and to defend the ruling.

He said that he is “the biggest defender of Asiwaju on the topic today.” “Nigerians would be hearing from the horse’s mouth as to what actually transpired during the struggle that raged then and how the matter was eventually placed to bed,” he stated.

The conflicts we fought, according to Keyamo, were fought to “unravel the truth and the genuine constitutional powers of the House,” not out of resentment and hatred.

“So, now that the matter has been resolved, let’s go on. Anyone who believes I would still harbor grudges after more than two decades should take a good look at themselves, he said.
