Elliott secures a long-term contract with Liverpool.

Harvey Elliott signed a new “long-term” contract with Liverpool on Thursday. The 19-year-old is anticipated to play a bigger role in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans this year.

Before suffering an ankle fracture-dislocation at Leeds that sidelined him for five months, Elliott started three of Liverpool’s opening four Premier League games of the previous campaign.

He has, however, recovered to full fitness and has started off the bench in both of Liverpool’s two matches thus far this season against Fulham in Premier League opening weekend and Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The midfielder’s new contract is said to be valid through 2027.

Elliott told the Liverpool website, “It’s always nice to know that I’m going to be here for many more years, which is always a great thing with it being my boyhood club.

Nothing else in the world brings me greater joy and excitement than this.”

Elliott has appeared in 22 senior games overall since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2019.

There are numerous positive aspects to this, according to Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool.

“As a club, we have the opportunity to advance along the road with a fantastic young player who has already had a significant impact on Liverpool FC.

“Harvey will be able to continue honing his tremendous talent at the team he has always supported. He will also get to improve. What is there to dislike?”
