Keira Knightley is set to star as a spy in a new drama from K Period Media, the production company behind “Manchester by the Sea,” Variety has learned.

The film will be based on an original script written by Camilla Blackett (“Newsroom,” “New Girl”). A director isn’t attached yet.

Knightley will produce the still-untitled independent movie along with Bristol Automotive’s Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky (“The Imitation Game”); and K Period Media’s Kimberly Steward and Josh Godfrey.

Since making a splash at Sundance 2016 with “Manchester by the Sea,” K Period Media — which was founded by Steward — has become one of the buzziest new producing houses in town for prestige pictures.

The company’s slate includes “Conversion,” a drama about a Midwestern family grappling with the sexual orientation of their son; “The True Adventures of Wolfboy,” starring Jaeden Lieberher and John Turturro; “Charlatan,” starring Matt Damon as a real-life 20th century doctor with questionable surgical practices; and Luca Guadagnino’s remake of the horror thriller “Suspiria” for Amazon Studios.
