Lopez of Spain wins the 35-kilometer European race walk.

Miguel Angel Lopez of Spain won the men’s 35-kilometer race walk on Tuesday at the European Athletics Championships in Munich.

The 34-year-old Lopez, who won the European title over the same distance in 2014 and was the world 20 km champion in 2015, finished first in a commanding time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 49 seconds.

Italian Matteo Giupponi won bronze at 3:45 and German Christopher Linke claimed silver at 2 minutes, 41 seconds.

Antigoni Ntrismpioti finished first in the women’s race walk with a winning time of 2:47.00.

Raquel Gonzalez of Spain won silver, finishing 2:10 off the lead, and Viktoria Madarasz of Hungary finished third, finishing a further 48 seconds back.
