Physical church services could not hold in Ekiti State as the lockdown order issued by the state governor, Kayode Fayemi was fully enforced

Channels Television observed that all churches are under lock and key on Easter Sunday with nothing in the streets suggesting any form of celebration.

Even the food markets earlier allowed were not spared today as the security personnel set some foodstuffs on fire after repeated attempts to chase the sellers away.

Some operatives of the State Task Force on enforcement of the lockdown, a combined team of the conventional security outfits may have come under a new instruction necessitated by abuse of the privileges by the people of the state.

Efforts made to reach the Chairman of the Task Force and Commissioner of Environment, Gbenga Agbeyoproved abortive as he was in a meeting when called on the phone.

While most Christians have adopted the virtual and house fellowship concepts for their services, some households also took to family prayers at their domestic levels.

In Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, most worship centres were found locked with no sign of activity.

Many homes find the experience unpleasant just as they equally understand the purpose of the present actions enforced by the government.

For a resident of the state who is also a former state lawmaker, Adebayo Morakinyo, the pandemic season is a lesson humanity should digest by building more productive institutions rather than building warring facilities.

“One of the lessons the whole world should take is that humanity is one. Whatever affects one nation will by extension affect others.

“It’s a very strange Easter, this is not what we are used to, people who don’t go church normally come out on a day like this to go and celebrate Christ but that is not the experience now,” he said
