Suspected vote-buyers in the Osun election were granted bail

Four individuals who were accused of vote-trading and were brought before Justice Mathias Agboola of the Osun State High Court have been granted bail.

During the state’s governorship election on July 16, the suspects were detained by members of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

To the two charges brought against them, the four suspects all entered not guilty pleas.

The defense attorney rejected a motion made by the suspects’ attorney for an oral application for bail.

But after hearing arguments from both attorneys, Justice Agboola granted the accused bail with sureties totaling two million naira, including civil officials with at least grade level 13 status.

The lawsuit is postponed until January 21 and 28.

Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party defeated incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress in the election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
