APC kicks as Akintoye hits Tinubu in the Yoruba language

Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, the supreme organization of the Yoruba self-determination struggle, is rumored to hold a congress on Tuesday, November 1 in Ibadan. According to Professor Banji Akintoye, the movement’s head, he did not authorize this congress (today).

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidate, was charged by Akintoye with employing some members of the self-determination movement against the movement in order to advance his presidential ambitions.

The IOO leader, who made this claim in a statement on Monday, claimed he had to do this to refute Funmi Soyemi’s assertion that a world congress of Ilana Omo Oodua will take place tomorrow in Ibadan. Soyemi is the departing Chairman of the Ilana Interim Management Committee of the organization.

“The few agents of Nigerian politicians in the struggle are the guys organising the congress,” Akintoye stated. The All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu is currently enlisting a few ambitious individuals to undermine me or entirely dismantle the self-determination movement.

I’m letting everyone who is Yoruba know that I did not give the gathering of Ilana Omo Oodua permission to take place tomorrow in Ibadan, Oyo State. A small group of individuals working for Nigerian politicians, who are determined to tarnish our heroic cause, are responsible for the gathering.

“I hereby distance myself from such a gathering, and I want the world to know that Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide is not aware of, nor has any authority over, the meeting. As a result, all decisions made at the meeting are invalid.

“Also, Bola Tinubu has vowed to destroy Ilana Omo Oodua and other genuine self-determination organizations in Yorubaland because we warned him that he is only seeking his personal advantage and not the interest of the Yoruba people,” the statement continued.

As a result, I beg you to ignore all of his agents operating within our system and intensify your attention on the fight we are waging for freedom and emancipation.

Keyamo responds.

Festus Keyamo, the Chief Spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, was approached for comment but was unable to immediately confirm whether the presidential candidate is expected to attend the Ilana Omo Oodua congress on Tuesday in Ibadan (today).

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry is on Asiwaju’s schedule for tomorrow, the man declared. I am unable to confirm whether he will be present at tomorrow’s Ilana Omo Oodua World Congress in Ibadan.

When asked to respond to Akintoye’s claim that Tinubu is attempting to undermine the Yoruba self-determination struggle by exploiting some movement participants, Keyamo said that the claim was completely unfounded.

He also questioned who chose Prof. Akintoye to represent the Yoruba people.

“Are the Yoruba a people who claim to be in a position of leadership? When did the Yoruba come together to choose a few of these figures?

“I have the right to be Afenifere with any Yoruba group because I am also Yoruba, thus I speak with authority. This is so because my mother is a princess of the throne in Ilaro and a full-blooded Yoruba woman. I myself am an Egbado man. The Olu of Ilaro is my first cousin. I can state with certainty that I am an Afenifere member.

He remarked, “All I’m trying to say is that the Yoruba have not appointed any of these personalities to speak on their behalf.”
