Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged the federal government to exercise prudence in light of the ongoing public dispute between the Dangote facility and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission over crude supplies to the facility.

On Saturday, Atiku asked the federal government to ensure the success of the refinery, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.

“Each parent eagerly awaiting the arrival of a child will dutifully undertake the necessary measures to ensure that the nurturing and development of this precious blessing remain a primary focus,” he told me.

“With this understanding, I am wary of any purposeful attempts to stymie the advancement of the Dangote Refinery, a substantial private sector investment positioned to meet our energy and FX needs.

The crude issue at the Dangote oil refinery took a new turn on Friday, with the Dangote Group accusing the NUPRC of failing to adequately enforce domestic crude supply obligations.

In response, the NUPRC stated that it allowed the supply of nearly 29 million barrels of crude oil to Dangote from January to June 2024.

However, Dangote Refinery stated that it did not receive any 29mb of crude.
