Heavy Rains in India: Floods Result in 15 Fatalities

At least 15 people were killed by severe flooding brought on by torrential rains in India on Wednesday, according to local media.

According to estimates, rivers in Gujarat, a coastal state in western India, have overflowed their banks, forcing over 23,000 people to flee their homes.

According to the Business Standard daily, eight regions in the state have seen fifteen fatalities since Monday.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated on social media that fishermen have been cautioned not to go into the sea and that they have been urged not to go into rough waters.

Every year, the monsoon rains bring about immense harm, but according to experts, climate change is altering weather patterns and causing a rise in extreme weather occurrences.

Over 20 people lost their lives as landslides and floods devastated the northeastern state of Tripura last week.

At least 40 people were killed by severe floods in Bangladesh, which is next door and downstream, over the same time period, forcing roughly 300,000 people to seek shelter in emergency shelters.
