Nigerian singer and composer Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, best known by her stage name Simi, has revealed that she does not listen to music.
Simi, who recently released her “Lost and Found” album on July 9, stated that if she hadn’t been the one singing her songs, she wouldn’t have been able to sing them since she wouldn’t have heard them.
Simi also stated that she could listen to and sing the songs of her husband, Adekunle Almoruf Kosok, better known by his stage name, Adekunle Gold, because he is her husband.

She stated that she is unfamiliar with songs other than her own and her husband’s, as she does not listen to music.

The “Duduke” singer posted this on her X account on Tuesday in response to fans’ reactions to an interview she gave to Zero Condition Podcast.

The “Joromi” crooner stated, “I said I don’t listen to music. I don’t know any music. If I wasn’t me, I wouldn’t know my songs, and if I wasn’t with my partner, I’d probably not know his either because I don’t listen to music. I despise giving these ridiculous interviews because they don’t care about your success. They will either lie or put things out of context so that others can pile on you.”

She said, “I don’t listen to anything. I find a voice that I enjoy. Binge their project for a month, then move on. I don’t listen to music or know any musicians who aren’t in my face. It is not a flex. It’s only my truth. I try, but I’m bad at it.
