After meeting singer-songwriter Ahmed Ololade, better known by his stage name Asake, popular Nigerian DJ Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, aka DJ Cuppy, has voiced her heart’s desire.
DJ Cuppy shared a short clip on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account expressing her wish to work as a backing singer full-time to Asake.
The performer claimed that she spoke with Asake after initially getting to know him.
Hadn’t actually met @AsakeMusik before this surprise, she wrote. I was finally able to express my strong desire to become his permanent backup singer as well as my professional advancement. DJ Cuppy posted on the social media platform, “#CuppyOnAMission #MrsMoney.”
According to Naija News, DJ Cuppy’s declaration comes just three weeks after Asake sold out the 20,000-seat O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom, to join the ranks of Nigerian artists who have done so, including Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid.
According to Naija News, Asake revealed earlier this year why he sings primarily in Yoruba.
According to the Mr. Money singer, he sings primarily in his dialect since it is essential to him and because many people can understand it.
This was revealed by the singer in a recent interview with ABC News.
He said that understanding the language is not always necessary for listeners to enjoy the music.
“Yoruba is so important to me, and there are many people who understand it,” he remarked. And I perceive music as a sensation, so sometimes you don’t even need to comprehend the words to appreciate it.
