Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer David Adeleke, often known as Davido, claims that Afrobeats singers are now on par with worldwide music superstars such as Drake.

Davido made this statement during a panel discussion with the United States Advisory Council on Africa Diaspora Engagement and Leaders in Nigeria’s Creative Industries.

Davido emphasized that Afrobeats artists are now selling out performances and generating massive cash, equivalent to their mainstream and hip-hop peers.

According to the ‘Unavailable’ crooner, the proceeds from an Afrobeats record can translate into generational wealth, showing the genre’s global popularity.

Davido urged young artists to collaborate with their contemporaries rather than pursuing international recognition.

He continued: “When you collaborate with your friends, they put their all.”
