Fire Destroys JFM Building in Delta State, Uvwie Area

A fire broke out late at night in the former JFM facility in Effurun, Delta State’s Uvwie Local Government Area.
According to Naija News, knowledge on the cause of the fire is currently restricted.
However, there are concerns that the fire will spread to nearby structures if it is not quickly contained.

At around 8:43 p.m., personnel from the Delta State Command’s Fire Service experienced a water deficit, impeding their efforts to extinguish the flames engulfing the building that housed Current FM.

According to the Daily Post, law enforcement agents are present to prevent any potential riots or looting of property by persons with malicious intent.

Meanwhile, an early morning fire broke out on Friday, destroying the Lafia modern market in Nasarawa State.
According to Naija News, the fire burned multiple shops in the market while owners and sympathizers watched helplessly.

The inferno began about 9:450 a.m. on Friday and destroyed homes worth millions of naira.

Joshua Ombugu, the state’s Fire Service Director, later told reporters that the event was triggered by a dumpsite near the market.

The fire service saved around ₦10 million in property value, while ₦150 million was lost.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities.

“The incident occurred at 21:54 hours. The fire was started by the dumpsite.

“We estimated the property lost to be worth about ₦150 million, and the property saved to be worth about ₦10 million.”

“There were no casualties. We quickly recruited our personnel, and five fire ambulances were dispatched to the scene,” Ombugu said.
