We Are All Under Afrobeats – Rema Meanwhile, popular Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, also known as Rema has told his colleagues that irrespective of their music styles, they will all still come together under the Afrobeats umbrella for award shows

At the 2023 Headies Awards on Sunday in Atlanta, Georgia, Rema made this statement as he accepted the Best Male Artiste of the Year award.

The Afrobeats icon said he attended the awards ceremony to support the organization that assisted in advancing his success story.
“I must say it is crucial that I should let everyone know that I’m not here due to the awards,” Rema remarked. I’m here because I believe it’s crucial to defend our institutions. Institutions here refer to the organizations that help you succeed in these important endeavors, such as media outlets and award organizers.

If we don’t focus on our institutions, we’re at a very sensitive time. we will miss this chance that we have. And we will never have this chance again.

“We go jam for the afrobeats award, be it afrorave, afro this, afro that, or last last. So here is our opportunity. The afrobeats community as a whole is not the first to do it. Reggae has done it in the past.
