Thousands of Displaced Lebanese Return After Ceasefire

Heavy-laden automobiles were observed leaving Beirut in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after Israel and the Lebanese terrorist organization agreed to a ceasefire.

They were returning home to the south of the country, which has seen some of the most intense combat in the nearly two years of cross-border conflict.

“We are going back to Harees, and God willing, we will always be victors. Ahmad Malik, a displaced person, stated, “We will be a fork in the eye of the enemy.”

So far, the ceasefire, which went into force at 4 a.m. local time, has held.

The end of combat has provided relief to Lebanese after days of some of the most intensive airstrikes and skirmishes since the war began.

“I’m from Maarakeh in the south. I ran to Akkar and was on my way home at 4:10 p.m. when they proclaimed the truce. It’s an incredible feeling,” Yousef Trad explained.

Thousands of Palestinians have been heading south, despite the Israeli military’s caution to avoid previously evacuated neighborhoods.

Israel has indicated that it will begin operations if Hezbollah violates the cease-fire agreement.
