Eight passengers on their way to Lokoja are abducted as gunmen attack a passenger vehicle in Kogi State

The eight passengers were reportedly taken into the bush by the gunmen when they flagged down the vehicle on the Oshokoshoko-Obajana-Lokoja road.

According to reports, eight passengers were abducted in Kogi State when armed gunmen stopped their car as it was traveling from Kabba to Lokoja.

The incident occurred on Saturday at approximately 430 p.m. According to Daily Trust, the victims were two ladies, four men, and two students.

Elupo Eliazer, a member of the Kogi State branch of People with Disabilities (PWDs), stated that his son and wife were among the victims.

The abductors had contacted and demanded a ransom of N30 million, he added, but after discussion and an appeal, the price had been lowered to N2.6 million.

We were traveling to Lokoja for our church’s convention. Since the Toyota could not fit all of us, I made the decision to follow a different vehicle; otherwise, I would have been in the car with her,” he stated.

When contacted about the event, SP William Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Kogi State Police Command, pledged to look into it and get back to you.
