Galtier believes PSG can defeat Bayern because “we have Mbappe

PSG must overcome a 1-0 deficit from the first leg on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena in order to win their first Champions League championship.

“Compared to the first leg, we need to play more football. We have a strategy, and Kylian is here “explained the 56-year-old.

Mbappe came off the bench in the final minutes of the first leg, but he will start against Bayern since he has fully recovered from a hamstring injury.

Mbappe became PSG’s all-time leading scorer last weekend with a late goal in a 4-2 victory against Nantes. He has scored 30 goals in 30 games this season across all competitions.

We have more room to close the gap thanks to (Mbappe). Galtier added, “We must also recover the ball much more quickly.

In his first campaign as PSG’s head coach, Galtier stated that he “did not feel” that the club’s season depends on the outcome of Wednesday’s game.

One team will stay in a very important competition, and one team will leave, he continued.

“Here at the club, the Champions League is always a major goal. We are driven and determined to go as far as we can.

PSG though can count on the returning Nordi Mukiele, Achraf Hakimi and Marquinhos, with a decision on whether each will start or come off the bench to be made on Wednesday.

Asked if he agreed with Mbappe’s assessment that PSG are “always favourites”, midfielder Marco Verratti said the striker’s “confidence is a good sign”.

“Kylian is Kylian. We are lucky to have him here. He has a big personality and character, and we need players like him.

“There is a lot of pressure but we are used to playing big games at big stadiums with big players.
