Iran’s President Promises to Make Israel ‘Regret’ Haniyeh’s Death
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian promised Wednesday to make Israel “regret” the “cowardly” assassination of Hamas senior leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will preserve its territorial integrity, honor, pride, and dignity, and make the terrorist invaders regret their heinous actions,” stated Pezeshkian in a post on X, where he lamented Haniyeh as “a brave leader.”
Haniyeh was murdered in an Israeli strike in Iran while witnessing the new president’s inauguration.
Haniyeh’s death comes after Israel struck a Hezbollah base in southern Beirut on Tuesday, killing a senior leader of the Iran-backed group it claimed was responsible for a weekend rocket attack on Israel’s seized Golan Heights.
