Judge remands guy and fiancée in Kano for stealing wedding presents

Nura Musbahu and his fiancée, Fatima Lawal, have been remanded by a Kano State Shari’a Court for stealing kayan lefe (wedding present) from his sister, Aisha.

According to the report, Kayan lefe is a Hausa ceremony in which a groom buys lavish gifts for his bride and has his family formally offer them to her.

The love birds were dragged to the court sitting at Rijiyar Lemo in Fagge LGA by Aisha and were charged for stealing and accepting stolen items.

When the court officer, Usman Idris Shu’aibu Dala read the charges to them, Musbahu pleaded guilty.

His fiancée, however, admitted that only two items were given to her, which she presented to the court.

Khadi Danbaba then ordered their custody to a penitentiary facility until June 5, 2024, and directed that their parents appear in court.
