JUST IN: Shettima adorns Egbetokun, the new acting IGP

Just 24 hours after being named the new acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun was presented with his new rank at the State House by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and the recently retired IGP, Usman Alkali were all present at the ceremony, which started at one o’clock.

The new police chief told reporters shortly after that he feels “like a tiger ready to devour Nigeria’s internal enemies” as he gets ready to start his new job on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

President Bola Tinubu approved the immediate retirement on Monday night of the Chief of Defence Staff, all of the nation’s service leaders, IGP Usman Alkali, the Inspector General of Police, and Col. Hameed Ali, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service.

As a result, Tinubu appointed Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as national security adviser, Maj. Gen. C.G. Musa as chief of the defense staff, Maj. Gen. T. A. Lagbaja as chief of the army staff, Rear Admiral E. A. Ogalla as chief of the navy, AVM H.B. Abubakar as chief of the air staff, DIG Kayode Egbetokun as acting inspector general of police, and Maj.
