‘Let’s Talk’, Wike Begs Youths to Avoid Hardship Protest

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged youngsters in the nation’s capital not to participate in the planned August #EndBadGovernance protest against hardship and economic hardships.

The former Rivers State governor claimed last week that the FCT was not open for protests, prompting a barrage of heated reactions from youngsters who promised to hold a rally in Eagle Square next month.

However, at a town hall meeting with youth stakeholders in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT on Monday, the minister appeared to be soft-pedaling, urging them to discuss their grievances and postpone the planned statewide protest.

The gathering was attended by area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious entities, and representatives from women’s and youth groups.

In his welcome remarks, the FCT minister praised those in attendance for their willingness to engage in conversation, while also emphasizing that President Bola Tinubu is still working hard to take the country forward.

On infrastructural development, Wike revealed that the President has approved the establishment of a youth secretariat in the FCT Administration (FCTA) as well as police stations in each local council in the national capital.

He urged youths in all local councils to avoid protests and embrace dialogue, telling them that things will improve soon.
