Meloni & Tebboune’s Encounter at G7 Summit
After the G7 Summit working sessions concluded yesterday, Giorgia Meloni, President of the Council of Ministers, met today with Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
During the meeting, the two leaders expressed their sincere appreciation for the excellent status of bilateral relations, particularly in the economic sphere, where relations are continuing to improve in the energy, agricultural, and industrial sectors.
The discussion focused on the progress of Mattei Plan for Africa initiatives in the agricultural and vocational training sectors, as well as the Rome Process’s combined commitment to migration and development.
In this regard, a sustainable agriculture project is being developed that will involve the Italian agro-industrial conglomerate managed by Bonifiche Ferraresi S.p.A. This project entails the strategic concession of approximately 36,000 hectares of land to be developed for agro-industrial enterprises in collaboration with Algerian partners. This is Italy’s largest ever investment in sustainable agriculture on the Mediterranean’s southern coastlines.
President Meloni and President Tebboune then discussed key international concerns, including Algeria’s duty as a Security Council member from 2024 to 2025.
