Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has criticised the younger generation of actresses in the industry, accusing them of prioritising body enhancement procedures over building genuine acting careers.
the 55-year-old made the statement during a recent interview with fellow actress Ayo Adesanya, where she expressed concern about the shifting values in Nollywood.
Comparing her era with the current crop of actors, Akintola noted that her generation was built on “pure, unwavering passion for acting.” She highlighted industry icons such as Sola Sobowale and Joke Silva as examples of actresses whose careers were defined by talent, consistency, and dedication to the craft.
The actress lamented that today, many rising stars seem more interested in physical appearance and cosmetic enhancements, particularly Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures, than in producing quality content for the screen.
Her comments have since stirred debate among Nollywood fans, with some agreeing with her perspective while others argue that modern actresses can balance both personal choices and professional growth.
