Police: Mohbad’s body may be exhumed for an autopsy

According to the Lagos State Police Command, the body of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, would be exhumed for an autopsy to help, if necessary, with the cause of death inquiry.

The PUNCH writes that Mohbad, 27, passed away on Tuesday, but the reason for his passing has been up for debate ever since the unfortunate event.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated during an Instagram live session with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, on Thursday night that the police would look into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.

According to The PUNCH, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer,

in a statement on Thursday said that the police would carry out a diligent investigation into the cause of Mohbad’s death.

The Force PRO released a statement this evening (Thursday) stating that an inquiry will begin, and that’s what we’re going to do, SP Hundeyin said during his interview, referring to the Force PRO. The body will be exhumed if necessary. It’s still possible. It is possible to exhume the remains and conduct an autopsy.

Additionally, it is said in the statement that anyone with information should contact the Lagos State Police Commissioner. This is because we no longer wish to employ hierarchy. Bring it to Lagos Command after taking it to Force CID. It is irrelevant. We’re going to balance it internally and see to it that justice is served.

According to The PUNCH, this happened after a document came to light in which the late singer claimed that a music promoter named Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, had threatened his life, caused malicious damage, assaulted him, and subjected him to oppression, among other things, in a petition to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State.

The dead and another musician, Omoniyi Temidayo alias Zlatan Ibile, were working on a video shoot when Sam Larry and 15 other armed men invaded the location and threatened to cause mayhem, according to Mohbad’s June 27, 2023 plea.

He said, “They eventually assaulted him (Mohbad) before he just barely escaped with injuries after they destroyed equipment valued at over N5 million at the scene.”

The petition read, “I of the above name and address, a law-abiding citizen and a Musician bring to your notice the assault and threat to my life by the above-mentioned persons.

On 25th June, 2023 while having a video shoot with another artist by name Zlatan (Ibile, the above mentioned persons numbering about fifteen led by Sam Larry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns, cutlasses etc where I was shooting video and scattered the whole process of the shooting, damaged the equipment I was using for the shooting valued about Five Million Naira and started threatening my life which in the process they became violent and assaulted me which I sustained injuries but narrowly escaped.

“Attached to this petition is the said pictures. Total amount I paid for the shooting they have destroyed is Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000) which is non-refundable.

However, they were bragging about how they were employed by Oba Elegushi and how they had been sent to deal with me for reasons that are only known to them while still threatening to murder me if I was seen during the assault. Please use your excellent authority to protect me from the aforementioned individuals and bring them to justice.

Part of the plea said, “Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above-mentioned persons and bring them to book.” We appreciate your prompt action.
