Russia Repels 12 Missiles aimed toward Crimea Bridge

Russia announced on Friday that it has thwarted a nighttime attack on the landmark Crimea bridge, which was erected on President Vladimir Putin’s orders after Moscow annexed the peninsula.

Last night, air defenses were utilized to intercept a coordinated hit by 12 US-made ATACMS missiles on the Crimean bridge. “All of the missiles were destroyed,” the defense ministry stated in a statement.

Putin opened the bridge in 2018 to connect Kerch, Crimea, with southern Russia’s Krasnodar region.

Since Moscow’s military intervention began in February 2022, Kyiv has launched and attempted various attacks against the Kerch Bridge.

Earlier Friday, Russia’s defense ministry announced that helicopters had destroyed five naval drones in the Black Sea en route to Crimea.

In June, the Kremlin threatened the US of “consequences” and summoned its ambassador after reporting that a Ukrainian missile strike on Crimea’s Sevastopol killed four people.
