Troops Neutralize Wanted Bandit Leader Halilu Sububu
Halilu Sububu, a wanted bandit commander, has been neutralised by Operation Hadarin Daji troops.
He was murdered yesterday in an ambush by the troops in Kwaren Kirya, a hamlet under the Maru Local Government Area in Zamfara State.
Halilu Sububu is a Niger Republic native who lives in a forest in Zamfara State and frequently flees to the Niger Republic after conducting operations in Nigeria.
Sububu was a known gunrunner who also ran a successful illicit gold mining enterprise in Bagega and adjacent areas near Sumke Forest in Zamfara State’s Anka Local Government Area.
Sububu established a camp on Bagega’s western side and controlled all of the local settlements and mining locations.
He was proclaimed wanted by the Defense Headquarters in May of this year.
The famed bandits’ leader and his 50 soldiers were murdered in a planned attack by Sector One troops, Northwest attack Hadarin Daji.
While congratulating the troops on the completion of the operation, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, stated the Nigerian forces might gun down all of the bandit commanders operating in the Northwestern portion of the country.
He stated that time was running out for legendary bandit commander Bello Turji and other militants, as forces were determined to remove insecurity in Zamfara and the North West Zone.
General Christopher also announced the formation of a unified military theatre operation codenamed ‘Operation Fansar Yamma Northwest’ to combat the growth of insecurity in the region.
