Veeam’s support will help organizations protect data and applications on Azure Stack.

Veeam Software, the availability for the always-on enterprise innovator, announced it’s support for Microsoft Azure Stack.  This extends Veeam’s capabilities to provide data protection and availability across Microsoft Azure, and Azure Stack as an extension of Azure, bringing the agility and fast-paced innovation of cloud computing to on-premises environments. Veeam’s support will help organizations protect data and applications on Azure Stack.

“Most organizations have a ‘cloud-first’ strategy these days, so we are intensely focused on ensuring that we deliver bullet-proof cloud availability,” said Peter McKay, co-CEO and president at Veeam. “We are extending our collaboration with Microsoft to ensure Availability for any application, any data, across any cloud. To be a launch partner for Azure Stack is further testament to our importance in this space. Our proven solutions allow customers to balance the right amount of flexibility and control for truly consistent hybrid cloud deployments, confident that their information is protected.”

“As an extension of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Azure Stack enables a truly consistent hybrid cloud solution for customers, which empowers them to maximize their investments across cloud and on-premises environments,” said Mark Jewett, senior director, Azure Hybrid Product Marketing, Microsoft Corp. “We are pleased that Veeam continues to make its deep data protection and availability expertise available to help our mutual customers improve business continuity in their hybrid clouds.”

With Azure Stack support, Veeam Availability solutions provide customers with a common backup and management platform for on-premises, virtual, physical and cloud environments, ensuring rapid recovery of mission-critical applications. Service providers can manage and maintain control and visibility with easy tracking of tenant and end-user usage.

Veeam’s support will also help Azure Stack customers more easily protect and recover applications.
Additionally, Veeam’s Availability solutions have been engineered and tested together with its alliance partners to ensure that Veeam customers can continue to leverage advanced storage to ensure availability of any application, any data on any cloud infrastructure, whether it’s public or hybrid.
Key benefits of Veeam’s support for the Azure Stack include:

  • Multi-tenancy: Veeam Cloud Connect isolates backup copies for each tenant ensuring security and compliance.
  • Multiple recovery options: Veeam Backup and Replication supports both granular item level recovery through Veeam Explorers for Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Active Directory and for Oracle, as well as full file level restores for tenant files that were deleted or corrupted
  • Reporting and billing: Veeam availability console supports real-time monitoring and chargeback on tenant usage, allow either Hosting providers or Enterprise organizations to easily manage and bill their tenants for availability usage.

Veeam support for Microsoft Azure Stack is expected to be available in early 2018.
“Azure Stack is a significant  development in hybrid cloud that has the potential to transform the way enterprises think about their datacenters and Azure,” says Carl Brooks,  analyst at 451 Research. “Recognition of this by independent software vendors is an important validation of Azure Stack and a sign that partners are critical to greater adoption.”
