Funmi Falana, Falz’s mother, is now a SAN
Falz, a Nigerian artist, came to Instagram to share photos of his mother, Funmi Falana, celebrating her appointment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Funmi Falana, Falz’s mother, is a practicing lawyer and women’s rights activist. She first studied physics at the University of Benin before graduating with a law degree from the University of Lagos. The University of Lagos also awarded her a master’s degree (LL.M).
Though most people know her as the wife of Femi Falana, a well-known human rights activist, lawyer, and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), she has accomplished a lot in her career.
She was a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), West African Bar Association, International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators before receiving her SAN designation earlier today, November 27.
Falz’s mother is the National Director of Women Empowerment and Legal Aid (WELA), a non-governmental organization that advocates for women’s and children’s rights.
Falz, who is also a lawyer and has been a member of the NBA since 2012, shared a photo of himself with his father and mother as they celebrated his mother’s birthday. The rapper and Nollywood actor also posted a photo of himself by his mother’s side.
Falz said in the caption, “What’s better than one Senior Advocate?” “Two”, which is a sampling of a lyric from Jay-Z’s smash song “Family Feud.”
