Obesere Warns Artists: Mohbad: What You Must Do Before Signing Contracts
Obesere, a well-known fuji singer, has counseled musicians to think about the long-term effects of their contracts before signing anything.
The ‘Egungun be Careful’ singer told Punch that young people should consider their future before signing contracts as she spoke against the backdrop of the passing of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad.
Before making any commitments, he asked them to seek advice from an expert.
He said, “Young people need to consider the long-term implications of the contract they sign. They should be aware that unless God decides to change things (for them), what they do now will determine how things turn out tomorrow. However, not everyone will be that fortunate.
That is why they must carefully peruse the terms of their contracts with someone who knows better, even if they cannot afford a lawyer. Most importantly, young artists should always ask for God’s guidance in whatever they do.”
He pleaded with the appropriate authorities to make sure the late Mohbad receives justice.
No information should be withheld, the singer said.
Obesere continued by saying that he regretted Mohbad’s increased notoriety and attention in the wake of his passing.
“I regret it, you know. Up to his passing, I had never even met him. I might have heard one of his songs being played without realizing it was his. It is regrettable that his passing increased both his and his works’ notoriety. Numerous lessons can be drawn from this saga, he continued.
