Saudi Arabia declares June 16 as Sallah Day.
Saudi Arabia has declared the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, signaling the start of the 12th Islamic month. The news was made Thursday. Consequently, tomorrow will mark the beginning of the holy month. Also, the 1445 AH-2024 Hajj pilgrimage will begin on Friday, June 14, with the day of Arafah happening on Saturday, June 15.
Eid Al-Adha, the Muslim world’s most important event, will be commemorated on Sunday, June 16, 2024. Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court issued a call on Wednesday for all Muslims in the Kingdom to observe the crescent moon of the Arabic month Dhu Al Hijjah. This activity is supposed to help decide the start of the new and last months of the Hijr, as well as the day the festival falls on the (Islamic) calendar.
Eid Al Adha, the largest Islamic feast, occurs on the tenth of Dhu Al Hijjah. Muslims around the world commemorate Eid ul-Adha on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah (the twelfth month of the Islamic lunar calendar). It is the second important Islamic festival observed by Muslims, following Eid-ul-Fitr.
