The 7th United States Circuit Court of Appeals upheld singer R. Kelly’s 20-year jail sentence for child sex offenses in Chicago

The ruling, issued on Friday, upheld jurors’ 2022 finding, which found the Grammy Award-winning R&B artist guilty of three counts of making child sexual abuse photos and three counts of soliciting minors for sex.

Kelly’s legal team expressed unhappiness with the result and stated that they would petition the United States Supreme Court for a review of the decision.

This latest development comes after a series of legal struggles for Kelly, who is presently serving a 30-year term in New York for federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges. Kelly has filed a separate appeal against this punishment.
