Two Kogi officials report to the EFCC office in Abuja, the government said
The Kogi State Government has acknowledged that two of its officers are currently at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters in Abuja.
Kingsley Fanwo, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, issued a statement in reaction to reports that a Federal High Court had ordered their arrest.
“Despite not getting an official invitation, they voluntarily reported to the commission’s offices in Abuja.
“We have not been told the specific details of the allegations against them, but they may be linked to the ongoing investigations into some current and former government officials,” the statement stated.
Channels Television previously reported that Abdulsalami Hudu and Umar Oricha handed themselves in to the EFCC on Monday due to corruption charges.
The statement said, “The officers reported as law-abiding citizens of Nigeria to further demonstrate that the Government of Kogi State has nothing to hide and will always disclose its books to authorized investigations.
“We hope that the EFCC responds to the officials’ patriotic actions by conducting their investigations in a professional manner.
“As a Government, we are always prepared to cooperate with anti-graft agencies to prove our transparency and retain the confidence of our development partners who have consistently given us awards in recognition of our unflinching transparency, accountability and probity.”
