Afenifere Urges Yorubas Against Participating In Protests, Rallies

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba sociopolitical movement, has encouraged Yorubas not to participate in any protest or rally during the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) demonstrations scheduled for February 27 and 28.

Earlier, the NLC declared preparations to go on a two-day strike to protest the suffering that Nigerians are currently facing as a result of the significant increase in the costs of goods and services caused by the elimination of fuel subsidies and the free collapse of the naira, among other factors.

Angry Nigerians have since demonstrated in Niger, Oyo, and Osun, among other states, urging the Federal Government to take decisive action to alleviate the agony.

“Although these economic measures are challenging, it is important to recognize that they are part of a larger strategy aimed at restoring economic prosperity and stability to Nigeria,” the statement reads. “We acknowledge the hardships faced by our people.”

While acknowledging that everyone is finding it difficult to deal with the effects of Tinubu’s economic reforms, he also urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the current administration.

The elderly statesman said Nigerians should have faith in the government’s dedication to their well-being.

While appreciating the struggles endured by our people, it’s critical to understand that these tough economic measures are only a small element of a broader plan to bring stability and prosperity back to Nigeria.
It is crucial to remember that the elimination of fuel subsidies and the floating of the Naira are serious moves, as we are all aware of the enormous harm done to the economy of our country by the evil operations of the agents of darkness in the banking and oil industries.
