Coronavirus: Family Members Of 3rd Case Test Negative

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Mr Akin Abayomi, confirmed this on Wednesday at a press briefing.

According to him, the family members have, however, been asked to self-isolate for the next 14 days.

The Ministry of Health confirmed the 3rd case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria on Tuesday.

According to the ministry, the case involved a 30-year-old Nigerian female who returned from the United Kingdom on March 13, observed self-isolation, developed symptoms and thereafter, tested positive.

She was said to have been independent of the index case and is now receiving treatment at the Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.

Meanwhile, the Federal Ministry of Health has confirmed five new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to Eight.

The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire confirmed the cases during a press briefing on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He explained that out of the five new cases, three arrived from the United States while two came from the United Kingdom.

Consequently, the government has issued a travel ban on 13 countries over the pandemic.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha made the announcement at a media briefing on Wednesday.

The affected countries are the United States of America, the United Kingdom,  China, Japan, Iran, Switzerland, Norway, Netherland, France, South Korea, Germany, Italy and Spain.
