Israel Adesanya Aims ‘For Heads’ In His Return To The UFC
Israel Adesanya, a former UFC middleweight champion, has stated that he is coming to the cage “for heads” rather than to reclaim his championships.
In September 2023, Israel Adesanya stated that he was taking a vacation from mixed martial arts after being brutally defeated by Sean Strickland.
Since then, Adesanya has been absent from competitive bouts, his first hiatus from the game, and has been dominating since 2018. During his prime years, the Nigerian-born Australian UFC fighter competes at least three times a year.
Unfortunately, he has not entered the Octagon since announcing his return to the game in April, but his long wait is expected to be over before December.
Israel Adesanya’s next fight could be a title attempt against new UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis, which could take place later this year.
While Adesanya’s fans await an official date for the fight, there is speculation that it will take place on August 18 at UFC 305 in Perth, Western Australia.
How excited am I to get back into the octagon? “I’m excited,” Adesanya wrote on his YouTube page. “I’m excited; it’s been a year, almost a year, or 11 months by the time I return to the octagon. People say, ‘Oh, I hope you get the belt back, I hope you get the belt back,’ I own belts. I do not need any more belts. I am coming for heads. That is what I want to do.
“Just a few that I have to touch, and take.”
