Exa Dark Siderael was the daughter of Grimes and Elon Musk before being given a new name

The odd name of her daughter has been shortened, according to Grimes.

The artist and Twitter Businessman Elon Musk are parents to two young children, son X A-Xii (nicknamed X), 2, and daughter Exa Dark Siderael Musk (nicknamed Y), 2, respectively.

When the journalist heard a baby screaming at Grimes’ home during an interview with Vanity Fair in March 2022, she unintentionally confessed that her daughter had been secretly born via surrogate.

The singer of “Kill V Maim” remarked at the time that she had intended to conceal the identity of her daughter because her son was “just out there.”

Grimes shared two photographs of herself and her daughter, who was wearing a red onesie and has green hair, on Twitter on Thursday (March 23).

“Y [dragon emoji] C,” she captioned the Twitter post, the C a reference to her real name, Claire.

In a follow-up tweet to a fan account, Grimes then confirmed that her daughter’s name had been changed, and she was now going by just Y (pronounced “why”).

“She’s Y now, or ‘Why?’ or just ‘?’ (But the government won’t recognise that),” the scuriosity, the eternal question,  .. and such.”

Grimes has ran into trouble with the government recognising her children’s names in the past. X’s full name was originally X Æ A-12, but the name reportedly violated California naming laws, so the number was changed to an “Xii”.

The 35-year-old added that although she didn’t typically post images of her kid “out of respect for her privacy,” the girl appeared to be “quite unrecognizably” in these.

Grimes said to author Devin Gordon in the interview where Y’s identity was made known: “Whatever is going on with family things, I just feel like kids ought to keep out of it, and X is just out there.”

“I mean, I believe [Musk] truly views him as a protege and brings him everywhere and whatnot… X is out there. That is how things are with him. However, I’m not sure.
