Super Eagles Lose International Friendly 2-0 Against Mali

In the international friendly on Tuesday, El Bilal Toure and Kamory Doumbia scored goals to lead the Les Aigles of Mali to a 2-0 victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s interim coach, Finidi George, had a less than ideal evening at the Stade de Marrakech as his team lost to a lively game play from the Malian team.

Early in the game, Éric Chelle men shown their determination by controlling the ball and making accurate passes that forced the Super Eagles to defend.

After Chidozie Awaziem lost focus, they were soon rewarded for their early speed, opening the door for Atalanta striker, El Bilal Toure to beat Stanley Nwabali from close range, just 18 minutes into the match.

The Super Eagles started to gain confidence and gradually gain the upper hand in possession, but they were unable to break through a resilient Mali defense, and at the half, Mali was still up by one goal.

Nigeria’s second half continued in the same manner as Mali maintained their composure at the back to further annoy the Super Eagles.

When Doumbi found the back of the net in the 87th minute, it was the last straw for Nigeria.
